US Commends Morocco’s Humanitarian Aid Efforts in Gaza

Morocco also commended the US ceasefire proposal plan, recalling the need to put an end to the IOF’ devastating war on civilians in Gaza.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has commended Morocco’s humanitarian efforts seeking to mitigate the crisis resulting from the Israeli Occupation Forces’ (IOF) massacres in Gaza.

Blinken made his remarks during a phone call with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita on Monday.

A statement from the US Department’s spokesperson Matthew Miller said that Blinekn has conveyed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI for Morocco’s humanitarian contributions in the besieged strip.

In March, King Mohammed VI instructed the deployment of humanitarian aid for Palestinians. The aid consisted of over 40 tons of food items and essential supplies.

Morocco was the first country to transport humanitarian aid to Gaza through a land route.

In addition to the humanitarian aid, Morocco has continuously renewed its principled position against IOF’s aggression, demanding an immediate ceasefire against the occupation forces’ devastating aggression targeting civilians since October 7.

Bourita and Blinken also discussed the US-proposed ceasefire plan for the devastating war in Gaza.

The statement said the proposal seeks to achieve an “enduring ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of all hostages.”

“The Secretary underscored that the proposal would greatly benefit both Palestinians and Israelis, allow a surge in humanitarian assistance into Gaza, enable the return of displaced persons to arrests throughout Gaza, and permit international reconstruction efforts to begin,” the statement said.

The US stressed that Hamas “should accept the proposal without further delay.”

Morocco on Monday expressed support for the proposal, which aims to facilitate the establishment of a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, access to humanitarian aid, the protection of civilians, the return of displaced persons, as well as the reconstruction of the war-torn strip.

The State Department said Blinken underscored the importance of supporting this proposal as a means of building a more integrated, peaceful, and stable Middle East region.

“Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Bourita agreed on the importance of continuing to coordinate closely to advance peace and security in the region,” Miller‘s statement concluded.
