A press release from the Royal Cabinet made public, Wednesday October 4, 2023, by which HM MOHAMMED VI, King of Morocco, announces to the Moroccan people that the Executive Committee of the International Football Federation (FIFA) has just unanimously retained the Morocco-Spain-Portugal file as a single candidacy for the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup. Once again, Morocco's place of choice in the concert of great nations is recognized.
It is appropriate to recall that HM MOHAMMED VI announced the joint candidacy of Morocco with Spain and Portugal, to host the 2030 World Cup, on March 14, 2023 in Kigali, in a message to the occasion of the presentation of the Excellence Prize of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the year 2022.
The Moroccan Sovereign noted in his message that this joint candidacy, unprecedented in the history of football, will be that of the junction between Africa and Europe, between the north and the south of the Mediterranean, and between the worlds, African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean.
The King of Morocco also specified that this candidacy will be that of bringing together the best from both sides, and the demonstration of an alliance of genius, creativity, experience and means.
Below is the full text of the press release from the Royal Cabinet of October 4, 2023, concerning the decision of the Executive Committee of the International Football Federation (FIFA) to unanimously retain the Morocco-Spain-Portugal file as the sole candidacy for the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup:
“Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help Him, has the great pleasure of announcing to the Moroccan people that the FIFA Executive Committee has just unanimously accepted the Morocco-Spain-Portugal file as the sole candidacy for the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup.
This decision by the Executive Committee of the International Football Federation welcomes and recognizes Morocco's place of choice in the concert of great nations. HM the King addresses, on this occasion, His congratulations to the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Portugal, while reiterating the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to work in perfect synergy with the authorities in charge of the file in each country hosts”.
