The First Lady of the United States of America, Mrs. Jill Biden, praised the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI in favor of the empowerment of women and young people.
"Under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco is promoting reforms aimed at empowering women and youth, which reflects our common priorities," Biden said in a statement released by the White House on Sunday in Washington.
She added that the United States is grateful for its centuries-old partnership and friendship with Morocco.
The First Lady of the United States also recalled having been “graciously welcomed” on her arrival on Saturday afternoon 04 june 2023 in Marrakech, by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa.
"And when we were getting to know each other, she told me about Her work to raise awareness among children and young people about the importance of protecting the environment," added Ms. Biden, who said she was inspired by the passion of His Royal Highness.
“I am eager to share Her story when I return to the United States, as part of efforts to capitalize on each other's learning opportunities. Because our world is tied together in many ways and common values are the foundation upon which our future should be built,” she said.
The First Lady of the United States of America, Mrs. Jill Biden, was accompanied during this visit by her daughter Ashley Biden and her sister Bobby Jacobs.
Her visit to the Kingdom is part of a tour of the Middle East, North Africa and Europe with the aim of promoting the conditions of women and young people around the world, particularly with regard to education, health and empowerment.
The visit of the First Lady of the United States to Morocco is the second after that of 2014 when Ms. Biden accompanied President Joe Biden, then Vice-President of the Obama administration, during his participation in the 5th edition of the World Summit of Entrepreneurship (GES) held in November in Marrakech.
Morocco has always been a privileged destination for the First Ladies of the United States of America. This enthusiasm for the Kingdom, a land of welcome and hospitality, denotes the place Morocco enjoys with senior American officials and provides information on the solidity of the long-standing strategic partnership that unites Morocco and the United States under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
