Morocco in Ireland

The BFMTV journalist, Rachid M'Barki: "Morocco has never given me a single penny to say anything".

The Franco-Moroccan journalist, Rachid M'Barki, appeared this Wednesday, March 22, before the parliamentary commission of inquiry of the French Assembly on political, economic and financial interference by foreign powers aimed at influencing or corrupting relays of opinion in France.

During his hearing, M'Barki defended his innocence as to any collusion with an Israeli disinformation agency, Team Georges, describing the allegations made against him on this subject as a "fable". “I have never worked otherwise than in complete transparency,” he told the members of the said Commission.

With the same confidence, the former journalist from the BFMTV channel categorically denied any acquaintance with Morocco. “It has even been claimed that I was paid by Morocco, which is total nonsense. Morocco never gave me a single penny to say anything,” he said. And to add that "Morocco is a great sovereign country and does not need anyone to defend its interests".

Rachid M'Barki justified the coverage of the Hispano-Moroccan Business Forum, organized in Dakhla last July. "It's news" to cover. The journalist returned to the report devoted to this event, assuring that he had said that the Forum was held “thanks to the warming” of relations between Rabat and Madrid, initiated “since Spain recognized the Moroccan Sahara. This is my exact sentence”, he assured.

It should be noted that the creation of "the commission of inquiry into political, economic and financial interference by foreign powers aimed at influencing or corrupting opinion leaders", dates back to December 2022, well before the first revelations of the media Politico on the M'Barki case. This organization has already auditioned, behind closed doors or during public sessions, personalities working in the media and information.

BFMTV management terminated Rachid M'Barki's employment contract on February 21, 2023.
