Saint Kitts and Nevis Reaffirms Morocco’s Sovereignty Over Sahara

“The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis reaffirms its unwavering recognition of Morocco’s full sovereignty over its entire Southern provinces. This Caribbean country describes the Moroccan autonomy plan as the “only serious, credible, and realistic” solution to the Sahara regional conflict. Following a meeting in Rabat, the foreign ministers of Saint Kitts and Nevis (Denzil Llewellyn Douglas) and Morocco (Nasser Bourita) issued a joint statement.

They emphasized that the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco for the Sahara, under its sovereignty, aligns with International Law, the United Nations Charter, and relevant UN General Assembly and Security Council resolutions.

The two countries expressed a willingness to deepen cooperation, and exchange experiences, and expertise in various areas of mutual interest. Mr. Douglas thanked Morocco for its contributions in the form of fertilizer, benefiting farmers in member countries of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean. Additionally, the Moroccan cooperation in health, tourism, and capacity building was acknowledged.

Minister Bourita praised the good governance, prosperity, and stability enjoyed by the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. He highlighted the transparent and fair elections held in 2022 in this Caribbean country as a positive example of democratic processes.”
