Morocco-USA: Signing of a twinning agreement between Laâyoune and Hollywood in Florida

A twinning agreement between Laayoune and the city of Hollywood in the State of Florida (United States) was signed on Wednesday 10.05.2023 in Laayoune, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations of cooperation in the economic, cultural, educational and tourist fields.

As part of the decentralized cooperation between Morocco and the United States, this agreement was initialed by the President of the City Council, Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid and the Mayor of the city of Hollywood in Florida, Josh Levy, at the headquarters of the municipality of Laayoune, in the presence of the wali of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, governor of the province of Laayoune, Abdeslam Bekrate and elected officials from the two cities.


According to the two parties, this agreement opens up promising prospects for the consolidation of partnership ties in the various sectors including tourism, the environment, culture, the arts, academic research and sustainable development, in addition to the sharing of expertise and the strengthening of cooperation.


This agreement will provide the capital of the Moroccan Sahara with international influence and partnership prospects that can contribute positively to its socio-economic development.


Similarly, Mr Levy said he was very impressed by the quality of investments and educational, sports, socio-economic and health infrastructure in Laayoune, praising the efforts made by the Regional Council and the Municipal Council of Laayoune in implementing projects.
