Morocco Unconcerned by EU Court’s Decision on Agricultural Deals

In a recent development, Morocco has firmly stated that it is not concerned by the European Union Court of Justice’s ruling on agricultural and fisheries agreements. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Morocco was not involved in any phase of the proceedings, which primarily concerned the European Union and the Algeria-backed polisario front.

“Morocco is not a party to this case,” the Ministry declared in a press release. “This matter involves the European Union and the polisario front. Morocco did not participate in any procedural phases and, therefore, does not consider itself affected by the decision.”

The Ministry criticized the ruling, highlighting what it described as “obvious legal errors and suspicious factual inaccuracies.” The press release suggested that the decision reflects either a profound misunderstanding of the case or blatant political bias.

Furthermore, the Ministry accused the Court of overstepping its bounds by contradicting established positions of competent UN bodies. It also noted that the British High Court had demonstrated greater discernment and legal mastery in a similar case.

Morocco has called on the European Council, the European Commission, and EU Member States to uphold their international commitments and preserve the achievements of their partnership. The Kingdom insists on the need for legal certainty as a strategic partner of the EU.

Reiterating its stance, Morocco stated it would not agree to any legal instrument that does not respect its territorial integrity and national unity. The Ministry’s press release underscores Morocco’s unwavering position on this matter.
