The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) has announced the release of six commemorative stamps featuring high-speed trains from around the world, including Morocco's "Al Boraq." This special series was issued on November 26 to mark World Sustainable Transport Day.
In a statement, the UNPA highlighted the importance of safe, affordable, accessible, and sustainable transport systems in supporting sustainable economic growth, improving social well-being, and enhancing international cooperation and trade. Every year on November 26, the United Nations recognizes these crucial contributions.
The six stamps feature some of the world's most iconic high-speed trains: Morocco's Al Boraq operated by ONCF, Japan's Shinkansen, America's Amtrak Acela, China's Fuxing, France's Inoui, and Germany's ICE. These stamps celebrate the technological advancements and environmental benefits of high-speed rail transport.
"We are thrilled to honor these remarkable feats of engineering and their role in promoting sustainable transport," said a UNPA spokesperson. "Each train represents a step towards a greener, more connected world."
The UN stamps are available for purchase online at www.unstamps.org and in the UN headquarters shops in New York, Geneva, and Vienna, where they can be used for postal services.
This initiative underscores the United Nations' commitment to advancing sustainable transport solutions and highlights the shared global effort to build a sustainable future for all.
