The Spanish National Police have announced the arrest of two alleged Daesh members in northern Spain, thanks to crucial collaboration with Morocco's General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The suspects were apprehended in Itsasondo (Guipúzcoa) and Avilés (Asturias) for their involvement in indoctrination, dissemination of terrorist propaganda, and incitement to violence.
Under surveillance since early this year, the suspects spread pro-Daesh messages on social media, urging violence and terrorism. The operation was overseen by the Central Court of Investigation in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Spain’s National Court, and heavily supported by the DGST. This partnership has led to the arrest of many terrorists over recent years.
Spain emphasized the significance of this international cooperation, highlighting Morocco's exceptional expertise and knowledge of the terrorist threat. The collaboration illustrates a sustained commitment to combating terrorism both domestically and internationally, reinforcing the strategic priority of such partnerships for the national police.
