King of Morocco Delivere Speech to Parliament at the Opening of 1st Session of 2nd Legislation

King Mohammed VI of Morocco, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, has delivered, on 14.10.2022, a speech to the Parliament on the occasion of the opening of the first session of the second legislative year of the 11th legislature.

On this occasion, the King Mohammed VI, has confirmed the necessity of activating the investment charter, which would transform the country's economy into an investment-attractive one.

The King said - in a speech to members of Parliament at the opening of the new legislative year - that the entry into effect of the Charter must be accompanied by the cooperation of all sectors to remove obstacles to investments and ensure the improvement of the services provided.

On another subject, The King of Morocco indicated that Morocco is going through the most severe drought in 3 decades, calling on citizens to rationalize water consumption.

In this context, His Majesty said, "the problem of drought and water scarcity is not limited to Morocco only, but has become a global phenomenon that is becoming more acute due to climatic changes."

He added that Morocco attaches great importance to solving the water problem, noting that 50 dams have been built and 20 others are being built.

King Mohammed VI made it clear that the water problem should be taken with the necessary seriousness, and not be the subject of political bidding.

The Royal Court had announced last February that it would spend 10 billion dirhams (more than one billion dollars) to support the agricultural sector affected by drought.
