Funeral of Mohamed Ben Abdelkrim El Khattabi daughter, in the presence of HRH Prince Moulay Rachid

The funeral of late Aïcha El Khattabi, daughter of the late Mohamed Ben Abdelkrim El Khattabi, took place Thursday September 21, 2023 in the presence of HRH the Prince Moulay Rachid.

After the prayers of Addohr and funeral prayers, the body of the deceased was buried in the Errahma cemetery. The funeral of the deceased took place in the presence of members of her family and loved ones, as well as several personalities. The late Aïcha El Khattabi passed away Wednesday in Casablanca, aged 81, after a long illness.

Born in 1942, she lived and studied in Egypt, before returning to the Motherland after the death of her father, an emblematic figure of anti-colonial resistance in the Moroccan Rif. Holder of a baccalaureate from the American College for Girls in Cairo, the late Aïcha El Khattabi held, during her lifetime, the position of advisor to the Mohamed Abdelkrim El Khattabi Foundation.

The deceased was buried in her country, Morocco. Which sweeps away any malicious attempt to cast doubt on the attachment of the late Aïcha El Khattabi to her country and to the monarchical institution. Because it is undoubtedly yet another irrefutable illustration of the symbiosis between the King and the people. Her burial in Morocco, her country, discredits all attempts by malicious people to make, particularly the Rif, a subject of discord or imaginary controversy, knowing that this region of the Kingdom is a priority for the Sovereign.

The three Kings, the late HM Mohammed V, like the late HM Hassan II, and HM Mohammed VI, have always surrounded the family of the resistance fighters with all their concern, particularly that of Abdelkrim El Khattabi.

The late Aïcha El Khattabi met HM the King on the occasion of the Throne Day celebration, on July 30, 2018. She declared on the occasion that “King Mohammed VI continues to pay particular attention to the Rif region”, wishing “to see this region experience greater prosperity”. She said she was “convinced that the population of the region is aware of the efforts made by the Sovereign to promote the living conditions of the inhabitants, expressing the hope of “a settlement of the situation of detained people” within the framework of the events in Al Hoceima.

She also recalled that the Sovereign, upon his accession to the Throne, had contacted her family to inform them of his “first visit to Al Hoceima and the Rif region”.

Mohamed Abdelkrim al-Khattabi daughter addressed, on a media platform, in May 2017, the fomenters and conspirators of the violence and demonstrations in Al-Hoceima by launching an appeal to stop playing on the separatist rope and the division between its populations, between the Rif and the rest of Morocco and to exploit the name and the epic of her father to try to destabilize the region by playing into the hands of Morocco's adversaries, led by the Algerian government and its services.

“The populations of the Rif do not detach themselves from the rest of the Kingdom and the Moroccan people, all are called to reiterate their attachment to the unity of the nation,” she concluded.
