The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nasser BOURITA, paid a working visit to Berlin on Thursday, July 06, 2023, for talks with his German counterpart, Mrs. Annalena BAERBOCK. The Federal Republic of Germany reiterated its support for the autonomy plan as a serious and credible effort by Morocco and a very good basis for the solution of the Sahara dispute.
Germany reiterated, this Thursday, in Berlin, its support for the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara, presented in 2007, as a "serious and credible" effort by the Kingdom and a "very good basis for the solution of the Sahara dispute.
The head of German diplomacy, Ms. Annalena BAERBOCK, reiterated "Germany's long-standing support for the United Nations-led process for a political solution that is realistic, pragmatic, lasting and mutually acceptable to the parties".
Mr. Nasser BOURITA and Annalena BAERBOCK reiterated their common position in favor of the "exclusivity" of the United Nations in the political process, while reaffirming their support for the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council, which noted the role and responsibility of the parties in the search for a political solution that is realistic, pragmatic, lasting and based on compromise.
Morocco and Germany reaffirm their support for the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, and his efforts to advance the political process on the basis of the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
Germany's position on the autonomy plan for the Moroccan Sahara reinforces the long list of countries around the world that support the Kingdom's proposal for the resolution of the dispute within the framework of the United Nations.
