Coverage of Haouz earthquake: the “administrative deportation” of two French journalists

No less than 312 foreign journalists covered Haouz earthquake and the administrative deportation of the two French nationals is a legal consequence of the law violation, said Thursday the Minister Delegate in charge of relations with Parliament, spokesperson word of the government, Mustapha Baitas.

“The two French nationals turned back did not request any authorization for the coverage of Haouz earthquake,” underlined Mr. Baitas during a press briefing after the government council, specifying that they entered in Morocco for tourism.

In this sense, the minister indicated that it is normal for them to be subject to administrative deportation by decision of the competent authorities who have, in this regard, applied the relevant legal provisions .

Mr. Baitas also indicated that no less than 312 foreign journalists, representing 90 media outlets, participated in covering this earthquake, stressing that they worked in a climate of freedom and transparency in all the affected regions.

“Of this total, 78 journalists, or a quarter, were of French nationality and represented 16 media outlets, of which 13 were accredited for covering the earthquake and three had permanent accreditations,” explained the minister.

“Our country has shown that it is a country of transparency and freedoms, which has ensured that all journalists carry out their mission in total freedom,” he concluded.
