Antony Blinken hails Morocco as an “important force for stability, peace, progress and moderation”

The working visit to Washington by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, marked by a series of meetings with senior American officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken , gives new impetus to the solid and multidimensional strategic partnership linking the United States and Morocco.

The American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, welcomed on Monday, during his talks in Washington with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, of the " long-standing, historic and solid partnership “between the United States and Morocco”, stressing that the Kingdom “is an important force for stability, peace, progress and moderation”.


Mr. Blinken also praised Morocco's "leadership" for peace and regional stability with the resumption of relations with Israel, as well as on climate change and renewable energy issues, noting the close bilateral cooperation between Washington and Rabat in various areas of common interest. Referring to military cooperation, the head of American diplomacy underlined the forthcoming organization by Morocco of the annual joint military exercise “African Lion”.


During their meeting, the two senior officials also had the opportunity to consult on various regional and international issues, including the war in Ukraine, support for the elections in Libya and the situation in the Sahel.


Bourita's visit to Washington, punctuated by interviews with senior U.S. officials both at the State Department and at White House, served as an opportunity to review the means aimed at further consolidate the Moroccan-American strategic partnership and discuss international and regional issues of common interest, especially in the Middle East and Africa.
